Congressman Phil Roe Visits JTEKT Morristown

Greenville, SC (April 24, 2019)—Congressman Phil Roe (R) of Tennessee’s First District met with associates and toured the facility at JTEKT North America’s (JNA) manufacturing site in Morristown on Tuesday. Scheduled by the Congressman’s office, the visit was part of the Congressman’s effort to promote economic prosperity in the district and continue to become more familiar with companies in the area.

“There is nothing more important to hardworking East Tennessee families than having access to a good job, and JTEKT employs 696 East Tennesseans,” said Congressman Roe. “It was a pleasure to tour JTEKT’s manufacturing plant in Morristown, Tennessee to learn more about the advanced manufacturing work the company is doing to produce driveline components and pumps in the automotive industry. This visit helped me to better understand the company’s needs and how I can help ensure continued growth for a critical employer in our region.”

JNA Morristown produces steering systems and driveline components for the automotive industry. The manufacturing site opened its doors in 1989 and has since produced more than 50 million automotive pumps for a number of automotive manufacturers including Toyota. The Morristown site plays a vital role in the JNA supply chain, as it is equipped with die-casting tooling, a specialized system critical to manufacturing steering and driveline products.

In addition to discussing policy and manufacturing, Rowe and his team highlighted plant associates’ efforts within the communities in the region. JNA-Morristown associates are very active with volunteerism and philanthropic efforts with particular focus on youth development, an important cause for both the plant and for the Congressman.
